چکیده

Hybrid fiber-reinforced polymer composites comprised of glass and steel fibers in a resin matrix have been shown to increased strength energy dissipation compared conventional composites. However, methods for simulating the mechanical behavior combinations hybrid yet be advanced. In this study, non-hybrid with off-axis were manufactured extracted coupons subjected half-cyclic tensile testing. Two user-defined material models developed simulate hysteresis response ABAQUS. The first model is continuum damage mechanics that captures fiber reinforced resin's nonlinear behavior. second plasticity ductile stainless fibers. robust enough capture cyclic specimens. capable strain fields captured by digital image correlation during experiments. was used evaluated varying layup angles. These provide insight into glass/steel enable further exploration properties before composite fabrication.

Electromechanical response of ionic polymer-metal composites

An ionic polymer-metal composite ~IPMC! consisting of a thin Nafion sheet, platinum plated on both faces, undergoes large bending motion when an electric field is applied across its thickness. Conversely, a voltage is produced across its faces when it is suddenly bent. A micromechanical model is developed which accounts for the coupled ion transport, electric field, and elastic deformation to p...

Modelling nonlinear regenerative effects in metal cutting

This paper deals with the nonlinear models of regenerative chatter on machine tools. The limitations and actual problems of the existing theory are summarized. These cause difficulties in industrial applications, like in the design of optimum technological parameters, adaptive control and/or vibration-suppression strategies. An industrial machine-tool vibration case is analysed experimentally a...

Mechanical and Tribological Behavior of Aluminum Alloy LM13 Reinforced with Titanium Dioxide Metal Matrix Composites

In the present research work physical, mechanical and tribological behavior of Aluminum (Al) alloy LM13 reinforced with Nano-sized Titanium Dioxide (TiO2) particulates were fabricated, mechanical and tribological properties were investigated. The amount of nano TiO2 particulates in the composite was added from 0.5% to 2% in 0.5 weight percent (wt %) increments. The Al-LM13-TiO2 Metal Matrix Com...

Shear Bond Strength of Metal brackets to Zirconia Treated with Er:YAG Laser Sandblasting and Silane

Background and Aim: Application of zirconia ceramics has increased. Since the commonly used surface treatment for porcelain, i.e. acid etching is not efficient for zirconia surfaces, evaluation of other surface treatment methods for zirconia is important. The aim of this study was to compare the shear bond strength (SBS) of metal brackets to zirconia treated with different powers of Er:YAG lase...
